The forum members of Flynn Lives are having a meet-up before the Encom Press Conference. The meet-up is going to be from 6:15 to 7:45pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency (within walking distance from the Justin Herman Plaza).

This meet-up is to plan the disruption they want to occur during the Encom Press Conference, which starts at 8pm. As part of the plan involves getting people into the Encom VIP area next to the stage, bringing your Encom badge is highly recommended. But since the event itself is open to the public, if you don’t have a badge, you will still be able to participate, just further back in the crowd.

One of the Flynn Lives forum members also said that they will be bringing t-shirts and posters for the participants. They said they are “bringing a truck load” so hopefully that means there will be enough to cover everyone who shows up, but I’d get their sooner rather than later if you want to secure yourself some goodies.

Encom International has issued a press release about an upcoming event by Executive Consultant Alan Bradley where he “will introduce the latest addition to the Encom International product library” at 8pm on April 2nd in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco.

There is speculation that you will need an Encom ID Badge in order to attend the event, but neither the Press Release nor the IGN interview with Alan Bradley talk about that. It could be that having a badge will move you to the front of the line in order to attend the event, but I would be surprised (and severely disappointed/upset at TPTB) if non-badge holding attendees were turned away completely. Especially since it can take 2-3 weeks to receive your badge after completing the game at Arcade Aid and the PR was issued just a few days ago. But you should be aware of the possibility in case you’re traveling to SF to attend the event.

Update: The badge question has been answered in another Flynn Lives forum thread.

Bring your Encom badges if you have them – if not – come anyway.

I think that there will be a VIP section for Encom employees (so badges needed for that), but the event is open to the general public.

So if you have a badge, bring it, especially if you want to get closer to the action. If you don’t have one, you’ll still be able to attend the Press Conference and the Flynn Lives meet-up prior.

Over on the Flynn Lives website, there is a countdown that will hit zero on February 24th at 11am EST. Below the countdown there is a slowly revealing list of city names. Current speculation is that things will be happening in those cities when the countdown hits zero, but it’s far too early to tell at this point in time. If you live in or near one of those cities, keep the countdown page or back here for updates within the next 5 days.

 

Update: So the image has completely resolved and all of the cities have been revealed. The original list posted was pretty close to what it finished up to be (the two switches were Detroit -> Denver and Indianapolis -> Minneapolis). We still don’t know what is going to be going on in those cities or exactly where things will be happening, but hopefully an update is on its way so those people who are contemplating taking off work will know if they should or not.

Okay, here’s the deal. We have two more dead drops based upon the new book tour dates posted at the Farewell Atlantis Facebook page. We know the cities and the dates, but not the actual location. In order to get that, we need at least one person to check out one of the 800+ gas stations during the info drop periods, get the address, and then share it with the group.

It should be noted that Soren Ulfert has totally slacked off on alerting us to when the info drops are occurring. By my calculations, there should be an info drop today, but there has been no mention of it. Soren has also changed the time of the drops the last few times so that there is only a morning session (8a – 12p) instead of an afternoon session as well. Of course, since he hasn’t told us anything lately, this could have changed again. But I have to imagine someone somewhere is in a position where they could just swing by one of the locations without it being too far out of their way.

Update: Soren actually gave a blog update with the dates and times. He’s gone back to the original schedule of 8a-noon two days before the drop and 3-6pm one day before the drop. So to recap:

Anyone with access to one of the 800+ gas stations can retrieve this information.

So, if you live in one of the 15 metro areas listed above, find a gas station near you from the list, swing by today or tomorrow AND Wednesday or Thursday, grab the info and let me know about it. Easiest thing in the world, right?

Frenzied Waters, the new promotional game for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, has released 11 news capsules into the wild, according to their website at FrenziedWaters.com and their Twitter account @FrenziedWaters. The capsules are believed to hold artifacts from different tragic events regarding sharks.

Update: It seems as if there will be a total of three different drops in these cities. One last week, one today and one next week (July 20th). So the earlier tweets from @FrenziedWaters saying that the capsules in certain cities have been found do not apply to the second group. Wish that had been made clearer. Also wish there was a mute button on the main page. And I still want to know what it wanted me to sign into Facebook for. I authorized it, but all I get is the loading twirl and nothing more.

The hidden capsules should be similar to the one already pictured on Frenzied Water’s Flickr page. Other than that, there has been no specific information on what to expect at these coordinates. The capsules have been located inside businesses. At least two have been inside dive shops, but a third was found within a boutique shop, so they really could be at any business in the area, so make sure you ask around.

Photographic evidence has suggested that members of The Cartel are going to be at the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco. The writing in the photograph shows that the man (named The Wish) is interested in checking out Java Utopia in the Pavilion at 2:00pm. You can register for a free Pavilion pass at the JavaOne registration page.

If you’re in San Francisco and feel like taking a long lunch hour, it might be worth checking out. Not entirely sure what you would need to accomplish, but my brief research suggests that The WISH is behind the kidnapping of one of the PIE guys named Baron, so a rescue attempt may be on the menu. If you do decide to go, I’d hop over to the PIE forums and see if you could meet up with anyone else who might be checking out the conference.
