The Human Preservation Project is having yet another round of dead drops for individuals lucky enough to have the day off on Thursday, November 17th. The countdown page is promising that this is the HPP’s biggest expedition yet, so maybe it will be more than first come, first served (but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that).

Although the countdown page doesn’t list the “rules” that were given out on previous missions, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to follow them in order to maximize your chances at getting one of the last remaining ice flies.

• Sign up at SurvivalCode.com
• Bring a mobile phone with you that can receive text messages.
• Be prepared for only one package available per location (first come, first served)

There’s a coordination thread over at Unfiction where if you want to plan your strategy (or just check out the competition).

Flynn Lives (TRON) – Finale Event – LA / New York / Chicago / SF / + ???

Game: Flynn Lives (TRON)
Type: Finale Event
Location: Los Angeles, CA / New York City, NY / Chicago, IL / San Francisco, CA / + 12 other cities
Date: December 8, 2010 / 11 am EST
Status: Incomplete

The finale of Flynn Lives is upon us. After solving the final puzzle, players were eventually taken to a countdown page with a copy of a flyer of Kevin Flynn’s book tour in 1988. It is believed that the clues to Flynn’s disappearance can be found in the cities he visited just before he vanished.

We need to summon our resources for one last push. Flynn was on to something; he was growing more paranoid by the hour during his final book tour. If we retrace his steps, maybe we can finally learn the truth.

We need an operative on the ground in every city that Flynn visited. There is more important evidence there, and we’re tracking down every shred of it.

While the countdown page says to check back for exact times and locations, with a little less than 2 days to go, there is still no new information. It’s entirely possible that the countdown is simply for the release of the information and that the finale events will happen hours (or maybe even days) later. But that hasn’t stopped people from planning out their strategy in numerous threads on the Unfiction forum. If you’re interested in trying to participate, you might want to check to see if there is going to be anyone else in your area, and definitely keep refreshing the Digital Pulse countdown page” for any new information that is released.

Dexter – Live Event – Los Angeles, CA

Game: Dexter / Serial Huntress
Type: Live Event
Location: 34° 2′ 19″ N, 118° 13′ 4″ W, near Hollenbeck Park / the abandoned Linda Vista Hospital in Los Angeles (Boyle Heights)
Date: Friday, August 27, 2010, in the afternoon
Status: Concluded

The players of the Dexter / Serial Huntress ARG were given a video that lead them to a new website that gave them some interesting recipes to try out.

Beef Chili To Die For
1. Brown the meat in a large skillet with vegetable oil. Add water then simmer covered for an hour until meat is tender.
2. Heat oil in medium saucepan. Add canned kidney beans, oregano, celery, onion and green pepper, then sauté for 2 minutes.
3. Add garlic-onion-flour mixture to cooked meat. Then add remaining ingredients to meat mixture. Simmer for a half hour.
4. Let soup sit and cool to about 34 °C
5. Stir for approximately 19 seconds then indulge in your meal.

Hearty Veal Roast
1. Mix together salt, pepper and cinnamon, then rub over roast.
2. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a large skillet. Add onions, garlic, parsley thyme and tarragon. Mix together then set aside.
3. Use a pan large enough to hold all ingredients. Cover then bake at 118 °C for a long time – over an hour.
4. Uncover pan and continue baking for 13 minutes.
5. Transfer meat to serving platter. Skim fat from cooking juices then pour over roast.
6. Cut roast to desired serving size then, using a fork and knife, cut a small piece off. Blow for 4 seconds then taste your hearty meal.

This is my Friday afternoon special. I hope you enjoy it. And remember, using different cooking equipment may yield different results, so be sure to check-in on your meal.

Using the numbers in the recipes (degrees, minutes, seconds), the players came up with a GPS coordinate: 34° 2′ 19″ N, 118° 13′ 4″ W. This is near Hollenbeck Park in Los Angeles. It’s also right next to the abandoned Linda Vista Hospital, which is now used primarily as a filming location, which makes it an ideal setting for an event in a serial killer ARG.

The recipe says this is a “Friday afternoon special,” but doesn’t give any specific time or directions on what to do once you get there (besides checking in I guess). Seems odd for it to be so vague considering Friday is a workday, but it’s possible that more information will be forthcoming in the next 24 hours.

Over on the Flynn Lives website, there is a countdown that will hit zero on February 24th at 11am EST. Below the countdown there is a slowly revealing list of city names. Current speculation is that things will be happening in those cities when the countdown hits zero, but it’s far too early to tell at this point in time. If you live in or near one of those cities, keep the countdown page or back here for updates within the next 5 days.

Update: So the image has completely resolved and all of the cities have been revealed. The original list posted was pretty close to what it finished up to be (the two switches were Detroit -> Denver and Indianapolis -> Minneapolis). We still don’t know what is going to be going on in those cities or exactly where things will be happening, but hopefully an update is on its way so those people who are contemplating taking off work will know if they should or not.

Institute for Human Continuity – Info Drops

Game: Institute for Human Continuity
Type: Info Drop
Location: Greater Metro Areas of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Washington DC
Date: October 26 (8am-noon) / Oct. 27 (3-6pm) and October 28 (8am – noon) / Oct. 29 (3-6pm)
Status: Concluded

Okay, here’s the deal. We have two more dead drops based upon the new book tour dates posted at the Farewell Atlantis Facebook page. We know the cities and the dates, but not the actual location. In order to get that, we need at least one person to check out one of the 800+ gas stations during the info drop periods, get the address, and then share it with the group.

It should be noted that Soren Ulfert has totally slacked off on alerting us to when the info drops are occurring. By my calculations, there should be an info drop today, but there has been no mention of it. Soren has also changed the time of the drops the last few times so that there is only a morning session (8a – 12p) instead of an afternoon session as well. Of course, since he hasn’t told us anything lately, this could have changed again. But I have to imagine someone somewhere is in a position where they could just swing by one of the locations without it being too far out of their way.

Update: Soren actually gave a blog update with the dates and times. He’s gone back to the original schedule of 8a-noon two days before the drop and 3-6pm one day before the drop. So to recap:

Information on Dallas dead drop:
October 26: 8a – 12p
October 27: 3p – 6p

Information on Philadelphia dead drop:
October 28: 8a – 12p
October 29: 3p – 6p

Anyone with access to one of the 800+ gas stations can retrieve this information.

So, if you live in one of the 15 metro areas listed above, find a gas station near you from the list, swing by today or tomorrow AND Wednesday or Thursday, grab the info and let me know about it. Easiest thing in the world, right?

Institute for Human Continuity – Dead Drop – Los Angeles

Game: Institute for Human Continuity
Type: Dead drop
Location: 7522 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA (Meltdown Comics)
Date: October 5, 2009, 1-3pm
Status: Concluded

So the result of the first round of information from Corruption Theory and Soren Ulfert has given us a place, date and time to seemingly get more information

Meltdown Comics & Collectibles
7522 Sunset Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90046

Monday, October 5, 2009
1-3pm

Codeword: 2012

If this is going to be anything like what Corruption Theory first reported, this is probably just a dead drop to provide a data exchange. CT received a bag with a cell phone that contained his encrypted document, but who knows what will be at this meet.

And remember, CT believes that there may be multiple people on the “guest list” so you shouldn’t have to worry about showing up a little late. Then again, after the large turnout to the Something in the Sea event, you might want to consider going earlier rather than later if you really want something.

Also, don’t forget that there should be a second round of information coming out on the gas station tv screens Monday from 8am-noon and Tuesday from 3-6pm. That should give us another location (I’m guessing another comic store) for a pickup on Wednesday.

Update: We have reports that at least four people went to the location where they met a woman handing out manila envelopes that contained a cellphone, a thumb drive and building plans. The players are supposed to keep the cell phone charged and not use it for personal reasons, so it’s a safe bet that they’ll be getting a call in the future regarding Project Naaczaal.
