Flynn Lives (TRON) – Finale Event – LA / New York / Chicago / SF / + ???

Game: Flynn Lives (TRON)
Type: Finale Event
Location: Los Angeles, CA / New York City, NY / Chicago, IL / San Francisco, CA / + 12 other cities
Date: December 8, 2010 / 11 am EST
Status: Incomplete

The finale of Flynn Lives is upon us. After solving the final puzzle, players were eventually taken to a countdown page with a copy of a flyer of Kevin Flynn’s book tour in 1988. It is believed that the clues to Flynn’s disappearance can be found in the cities he visited just before he vanished.

We need to summon our resources for one last push. Flynn was on to something; he was growing more paranoid by the hour during his final book tour. If we retrace his steps, maybe we can finally learn the truth.

We need an operative on the ground in every city that Flynn visited. There is more important evidence there, and we’re tracking down every shred of it.

While the countdown page says to check back for exact times and locations, with a little less than 2 days to go, there is still no new information. It’s entirely possible that the countdown is simply for the release of the information and that the finale events will happen hours (or maybe even days) later. But that hasn’t stopped people from planning out their strategy in numerous threads on the Unfiction forum. If you’re interested in trying to participate, you might want to check to see if there is going to be anyone else in your area, and definitely keep refreshing the Digital Pulse countdown page” for any new information that is released.

Must Love Robots – Finale Event

Game: Must Love Robots
Type: Finale Event
Location: your local Subway restaurant
Date: to be completed before July 13th
Status: Completed

Must Love Robots is drawing to a close and they are having an finale event that anyone can take part in – provided there is a local Subway restaurant near them.

Fifty years ago, 36 titans of industry, fearful of a possible robot uprising, started building substations into Subway restaurants where they could input a special code that would trigger the robo-apocalypse no matter where they were in the country. The code is input via the soda fountains at Subway. No, I’m not making this up.

The codes are numerical, so you will have to number the different soda dispensers left to right as 1 through 8. There are two different codes that can be input into the soda fountains. One code will destroy the robots. The other code will save the robots. You will have to provide evidence that you input the code, either via photographs or videos.

To destroy the robots, enter code 5338
To save the robots, enter code 8335

The missions need to be completed by July 13th, so Sunday, July 12th will be the last day to actually do the mission. When you have your photographic evidence, you will need to submit it to either Pastor Ned ( if you have destroyed the robots, or Johnny Lugnut ( if you have saved them. You can keep track of how many people have chosen at Johnny’s new website

This will be your last chance to take part in a Must Love Robots event unless you’re coming to Portland, so don’t miss out. Just because this isn’t a structured event doesn’t mean that you can’t have a blast completing it.

Update: The robots have been saved (for the time being)! Thanks to everyone who submitted videos – even if it was for the 36. So now that the robots live on, we can still find 011ie true love. So it’s not quite over yet!

Charlotte – Finale Event – Berlin, Germany

Game: Charlotte Is Becoming Real
Type: Possible Finale Event
Location: Berlin, Germany
Date: leave April 17, return April 20
Cost: $450 $0 for 2 lucky players
Completed: Yes

To be honest, I have no idea if this is an actual possibility or not. On one hand, it’s a last minute trip overseas that you have to pay for. On the other, it’s well known that Sebastian Fitzek is insane when it comes to game stuff that he pulls off (see the Alzner Experiment). All I know is, I am very tempted and I shouldn’t be.

From the Charlotte event at Terazza Toscana, we found a new website for a travel agency: Thatch and Sons Those people that submitted their information inquiring about one of the three specials got an email back about Special III that costs $450.

Special Offer III is one of our best offers. The costs for the flight are included. You can choose to depart at an airport near your hometown. [...] Your journey will begin on Friday and you will arrive Berlin on Saturday. There you will be provided a rented car for the whole weekend. It has a build-in navigation system so that you will find your way to the hotel, which is not too far away from the airport. There you check in and have some interesting days in Berlin. On monday, you will be in the plane again and it will bring you back to your hometown. Doesn’t that sound wonderful? Shall I give you a call so that we can set up things?

Is this for real? Part of me thinks that they wouldn’t be offering it if it wasn’t. The other part of me is wondering why we couldn’t have been given more time to think about it! We’ve seen before that last minute, fly-in-for-the-weekend events don’t work (see Holomove) but give people enough time and they’ll drive anywhere (see Eldritch Errors).

If you want to go, contact Thatch and Sons and try to set things up with them. Or, if you happen to already be in Germany, maybe you can see if you can just get the hotel package.

Update: HOLY FRAKING CRAP! After a series of emails in which players told the Thatchs that P. Martin had given us their website address, we were told that P. Martin had pre-paid to trips to Berlin this weekend. PRE-PAID!!! As I have no husband/kids/life to stop me from traveling out of the country last minute, enaxor (my new bestest friend in world) gave Edward Thatch my contact information (since the site is currently blocked at work). A couple of phone calls and emails later, and I am now just waiting on flight and hotel information for the trip tomorrow. Pinkcloud from San Diego is the other person going along for what is shaping up to be one of the best live events EVAR in an ARG.

Update 2: Mission was a success! PinkCloud and I had the best time in Berlin. Thanks to everyone in #therapy, the German Alzner fans, and the PMs for such a fantastic event. You can catch all the fun at the Kyte Channel that we were broadcasting to during the event.
