Test Subjects Needed / Human Preservation Project- Dead Drops – Nationwide

Game: Test Subjects Needed / Mission Ice Fly / Human Preservation Project

Location: Austin, Minneapolis, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Washington DC, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Tampa, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas
Date: November 17, 2011, 12:00 PM EST
Status: Concluded

The Human Preservation Project is having yet another round of dead drops for individuals lucky enough to have the day off on Thursday, November 17th. The countdown page is promising that this is the HPP’s biggest expedition yet, so maybe it will be more than first come, first served (but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that).

Although the countdown page doesn’t list the “rules” that were given out on previous missions, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to follow them in order to maximize your chances at getting one of the last remaining ice flies.

• Sign up at SurvivalCode.com
• Bring a mobile phone with you that can receive text messages.
• Be prepared for only one package available per location (first come, first served)

There’s a coordination thread over at Unfiction where if you want to plan your strategy (or just check out the competition).

The Darkest Puzzle – Dead Drop – NYC

Game: The Darkest Puzzle
Type: Dead Drop
Location: Grand Ferry Park in Brooklyn, NY
Date: dropped August 31, 2011
Status: Concluded

The Darkest Puzzle is a 9/11 conspiracy ARG that has just recently started. It’s newest “puzzle” is a video of a man who appears to be hiding something in some rocks on a waterfront. Players have determined that it is the Grand Ferry Park in Brooklyn, NY. No idea what is there or even why that location was chosen (hopefully the item is waterproof) but presumably it’s important enough to warrant a video of it’s drop on the game’s Facebook page.

Villain Training – Dead Drop – London, UK

Game: Villain Training
Type: Dead Drop
Location: London, UK
Date: dropped sometime before April 28, 2011
Status: Concluded

After a very long break (are games just not having live events now or am I really that out of the loop these days?), here is a new dead drop for all of you. Just in time for the Royal Wedding! I’m sure it’ll be a piece of cake to go and find this with so many people camping out, hoping to catch a glimpse of royalty.

According to the Unfiction forums, the dead drop for Villain Training is on the Nelson statue in Trafalgar Square. Which is about 1/2 mile away from Westminster Abbey. So I would maybe recommend against going on Friday, unless of course you’re already waiting near there. Then in that case, search away!

Garrison Medill – Dead Drop – Chicago, IL

Game: Garrison Medill
Type: Dead Drop
Location: 2725 North Clark, Chicago, IL
Date: Saturday, November 13, 12-3pm CST
Status: Concluded

A QR encoded memo from CNB Labs has been uncovered and it hints at a time travel device showing up tomorrow in Chicago.

You have been selected for the fantastic opportunity of being on of the first humans to experience our breakthrough technology. In preparation for this project, we have implanted a personal device that, when placed in contact with the signal of the relay, will allow you safe passage to your destination. If the chronolonium floats in the center, the device should function properly. Hold the device in your dominant hand, and your nanobionic implant will interact with the device, causing the floating piece to spin. At this time, brace yourself. Travel can be taxing on the body.

WARNING: Do not move your relay more than twenty yards from its placement spot. Displacement of the relay can cause spacetime instability, and will revert you to your origin. For obvious reasons, this could place project GM-0553213512 in jeopardy.

For more information concerning use of the device, consult the guidebook for project GM-0553213512.

Your first step is to apprehend Blake. Go to 00110010001101110011001000110101 [2725] North Clark. The device will appear at that site between 12:00:00p.m. and 3:00:00p.m. (UTC -6 hours), 13 November, 2010. It will be hidden amidst other cubes. You have only a short window of time before the device relocates along its circuit.

It will be interesting to see what kind of time travel device shows up at the location. I’m guessing it won’t be usable by those that don’t have the nanobionic implants, but maybe you can ‘borrow’ someone who has the implants and see if you can hitch a ride with them. Or at the very least you can take pictures of the device and then try to reverse engineer it. They do it all the time on sci-fi shows so it can’t be that hard to do.

Animism – Dead Drop – Lake Simcoe, Ontario

Game: Animism
Type: Dead Drop
Location: Sutton/Mossington Park area of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada
Date: Dropped September 29, 2010
Status: Concluded

There’s been another drop for the Animism game that players need help recovering. This one appears to be at the Sutton/Mossington Park area of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.

It’s been noted that there is a strange “No Trespassing” sign located behind the “Iron Clad” signs, so that might be where the drop is actually located. (You have to view the full size image on Twitpic to see the “No Trespassing” sign in the back.)

I don’t know how hard or easy it will be to find this particular location, so if you’re going out, you should definitely consider securing the aid of one of the players in the Animism thread for ground support, or friend @ironcladchad on Twitter. There’s also a toll free number on the Iron Clad signs (1-888-579-4430) that might be useful to call as well.

Secret Lewis – Live Event – Cairo / Beirut / Dubai

Game: Secret Lewis
Type: Live Event
Location: Cairo, Egypt / Beirut, Lebanon / Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Date: Saturday, 18th September, 2010
Status: Concluded

The Secret Lewis / Reebok partnership is really heating up. There will be three more events at Reebok stores this weekend, this time in three different countries: Egypt, Lebanon and United Arab Emirates. The player’s mission will be to secure information on how some bank security droids work, thereby allowing Lewis Hamilton to break into a bank vault and recover the stolen Leonardo notebook.

Once again, Lewis has worked with Reebok whom have stepped up to give us a secure rendezvous point in each city. Here’s where you need to be and when:

  • Cairo: Reebok store, City Stars Mall, 1-6pm
  • Beirut: Reebok store, Beirut Souks, Kaslik Main Road, 4-8pm
  • Dubai: Reebok store, Dubai Mall, Level G, 12-5pm

They don’t mention the possibility of winning anything this time, but I somehow seriously doubt they would all of a sudden get stingy at this point in the game. But at the very least, participants will have the satisfaction of knowing they helped unlock the next code for the Simulation game that will hopefully allow you to get past those annoying security bots easier (because you know a code is coming). Maybe the code will also fix that weird bug I had where a security bot would come whipping around the corner at 5x its normal speed and almost smashing into me.

Animism – Dead Drop – Toronto, ON

Game: Animism
Type: Dead Drop
Location: University of Toronto Hart House Library, Toronto, ON
Date: Dropped September 12, 2010
Status: Concluded

There appears to be a second library dead drop for the Animism game.

Declan believes we need to check out the book/s in the photo, especially “The Polar Sea Journey”.

This comment from Stephen on Declan’s blog gives us a location to check for the book/s:

I’ve conferred with a few colleagues sir–they’re saying they’re certain the library is the U of T Hart House library!

No one has picked up the Vancouver drop yet, so if you have any Canadian friends in either area, let them know that you need their help.

Animism – Dead Drop – Vancouver, BC

Game: Animism
Type: Dead Drop
Location: Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver, BC
Date: Dropped September 7, 2010
Status: Concluded

The players of Animism: The Sacred Sites have discovered a dead drop that was hinted at a character’s blog:

There is faint text at the bottom right that says:
“Remember our deal…
VPL
BUS 333.38 F86m
HB”
I believe “VPL” is Vancouver Public Library, “BUS” is the business section, and 333.38 F86m is a call out number for a book.

Note: The VPL catalog is undergoing maintenance until 11am EDT so I am unable to get specific information about the book at this time. I’ll update with more information after the catalog is back online.

Update: It figures that the one time I will ever need to use the VPL card catalog, it ends up being down most of the day. The book is Model subdivision regulations : text and commentary by Robert H. Freilich and Peter S. Levi.

UF member Shizzire has contacted the library, was told that there is a note inside the book, and currently has it on hold at the counter. You can send them a PM on Unfiction to get instructions on how to get the book/note (or maybe just be really nice to the librarian and ask them just to let you see the note).

Male Carrla – Dead Drop – Nashua, NH

Game: Male Carrla
Type: Dead Drop
Location: Nashua, NH
Date: July 26, 2010 12:00 – 15:00
Status: Concluded

Over the past few days, members of the Unfiction forums had been trying to decipher an email from someone calling themselves Male Carrla. The solution to the puzzle seemed to indicate that it was a waste of time, however the players were told to expect something new soon. That something new turned out to be a Tumblr site that promised a series of dead drops:

:: First stop: Nashua, NH ETA: 7/26/10 12:00-15:00

So let’s move on. Once I get close enough to the targeted time, I shall disclose where the first drops will 7be. It will be controlled by a first come first serve basis. Anybody interested in it can come by and pick it up. Checking out once again, I’m hoping to see you all on the battle field.

So far that is all the information given, though more information should be coming tomorrow (if there really is a dead drop that is). So if you’re in the Nashua area (or just like over cryptic and enigmatic emails with no real purpose) you might want to keep an eye on the UF thread. Just be smart if you do go and pick up a drop. I wouldn’t recommend going to a secluded forest by yourself or anything like that.
